Our Services

BEHAVIOR CONSULTANT

These services may occur with in any setting including but not limited to: home, private and public school settings, day program, employment, community care facility, etc. Services are provided to all age groups.

Shannon will provide the tools and techniques to assist with decreasing behavior excesses, teaching parents, staff or caregivers to increase the use of proactive strategies, increasing independent skills (i.e. self help skills, toilet training, community skills, etc.), teaching functional communication, supporting with desensitization programs and generalizing skills across people and environments. Various media are used including role-playing, video, hands-on practice and feedback sessions.

Behavior Consultation can be provided during your designated staff in-service training days. These trainings can be tailored based on the feedback received from your staff.

PARENT TRAINING

This 10-12 hour Behavior Support Service introduces parents and caregivers towards the process of creating independence for their child. It is geared toward parents of children between the ages of two and twelve that display mild-moderate behavior problems and who lack self-care, social and/or play skills. Topics covered range from the practice of Applied Behavior Analysis, effective teaching strategies, positive behavioral interventions and strategies to promote generalization. These sessions promote interaction and discussion among the participants. The class can be taught in a large or small group settings, in-person or online.

This format provides parents with immediate opportunities to generalize across settings and across time what they have learned in the class, as they are required to complete assignments between classes. In addition, parents are likely to form a network with other parents after learning of their similarities with other group members.


Upon completion of this class and on recommendation from the Behavior Consultant, parent/caregiver(s) may need to receive additional individualized Behavior Intervention in their home setting.

EDUCATION ADVOCATE

Ms. Heidemann will help the family navigate the IEP/504 process by:

  • Educating parents, caregivers and adults about various programs available to them

  • Outlining steps to take after a learning disability diagnosis (or autism, ADHD, anxiety, etc.).

  • Preparing parents for IEP meetings and 504 Plans

  • Accompany caregivers to meetings or speak to the school on the family’s behalf

  • Reviewing special education documents and other forms to verify accuracy

  • Explaining reports to parents so they can better interpret them

  • Answering any questions the parent has related to educational support

  • May also work with older teens or young adults embarking on a new life transition

RELATIONSHIP COACH

Ms. Heidemann works with the individual to develop and maintain meaningful relationships. She will guide her clients through real-life situations and help them unravel social nuances. She focuses on her clients' unique strengths and recommends specific relationship goals for them to accomplish on their own terms.
